High quality considered landscape design, and practical design solutions for development, evolve from a thorough understanding of the constraints and opportunities afforded by contextual environment. Landscape assessment is a fundamental process to gather and evaluate information critical to the success of development projects, particularly within rural communities or on the rural edge of urban areas.
Different developments and environments require differing levels of evaluation and assessment. MHP are experienced in ensuring that assessment is commensurate with the scale and nature of specific development, and also in keeping with the sensitivity of the area. We are happy to discuss the scope of assessment with a local planning authority at the outset to avoid unnecessary costs.
MHP can provide informal landscape appraisals and statements to support smaller development, or undertake extensive landscape and visual impact assessments where required. We recommend our early involvement in a project so that initial landscape assessment can inform the developing masterplan, and reflect identified constraints and opportunities at an early stage, hence limiting potential problems from arising during the planning application process.
